Meet Sits!

I had been trying to think of what I could post about today... I like daily "memes" (blog themes) but hadn't run across one for Friday that seemed to be a good fit for things I like to post about... until today! When I ran across Show & Tell Friday I knew immediately what I could "show and tell" about! This is Sits! He's a funny looking little character, isn't he? But he's very precious to me.

The facts are these.

Once upon a time, when I was a new bride setting up my first home I came across this goofy little piece of porcelain among my husband's things.

"What's this?" I wondered.

"Oh. That's Sits," my husband told me matter-of-factly.

"Sitz??"

"His name is Sits because that's what he does!" as if that explained everything.

The story goes that when my husband was a little boy his family drove from California to Illinois to visit friends. While they were there the friends gave this figurine to the-little-boy-who-would-grow-up-to-be-my-husband. He told me he named it Sits (because that's what he does!) and laid on the floor of their van and talked to it all the way home. (This was obviously before there were seat-belt laws.)

I have very vivid memories of my childhood, but my husband does not. So each little tidbit he shares is like a precious jewel... and Sits ties in with that, so that's why I treasure such a quirky knick-knack. And that's my "show and tell" for this week!

Love the show and tell idea. I hope no one "collects" dogs because it sounds like that one stays or sits :) David is the one with the memory of this couple. The kids love his childhood stories and want me to tell some of mine. As far as I can remember I had a normal childhood just no memeory to go with it. It's real hard to hold grudges with this problem though. Have a great weekend!

I like Sits! Couldn't find a better name! Cute story about him playing with him all the way home. I can just picture a little boy doing that!

I love this blog theme! That name is definitely one a boy would come up with -- so practical! My son named one of his pet crabs "Crab."

What a sweet story! I love items that have so much more value than it would appear in them. Sits is priceless!

What an adorable story. Makes me think of a little ceramic duck I had when I was a child. I named it Sally for my best friend. My cousin had a little glass dog he called Glassie. We spent hours playing together with Sally & Glassie.

You are blessed to have a lot of childhood memories. I just don't. I start remembering things pretty well from junior high, but before that is only bits and pieces. The dog is cute!

I wonder if there is a picture anywhere of the "Little Boy" with Sits? Would be cute to frame it and display with Sits.

ADORABLE! Any other day, that would just be a figurine of a dog. BUT NOW...it is just tooooooo cute!

No wonder you love sits. I'm going to have to show this to my DH.

Great stuff! This is my first time with Show and Tell Friday. I'm so glad I checked it out. I even posted my own.
