Vintage Thingy Thursday

My mother sent me these tiny vintage salt and pepper shakers for my "accented in red" kitchen. I hung them on this mail rack on the cabinet by the sink. I just love them! ... but I am trying to figure out why they are in the cute little red-checkered holster? Each shaker is about as big as your thumb. They are blue transparent plastic with aluminum lids. They fit into the fabric sleeves which are connected by a little strip of fabric. My theory is that they hung over something in a picnic basket, but I really have no idea. Does anybody know?

Your kitchen is very cheery with the red accents!

I'm afraid my knowledge of vintage things is limited, so I can't give much insight into the fabric sleeves. Ummm...I can venture a guess...ummmm....nope. I'm coming up with nothing. Wait! Would they fit on a thumb? If so, then that could mean...hmmmm....I don't know what that would mean. I'm a lot of help!

Did you think I was trying to be funny when I asked if they would fit a thumb? That was actually me being a little slow tonight. I had forgotten you mentioned that!

Stumped me on that one. But I agree with you.I bet they were part of a lunch box, back pack or picnic basket where you traveled away from home with it. Pretty snazzy. Thanks for participating. I love the company!

Karla, You have such good ideas. I love your Alphabet thing and your Thingy Thursday and your pictures. I have a few vintage things that I have no idea what they are also. Maybe I should take some pictures and start something. Thanks so much for your help! Aunt Aliene
