Recently members of the TOS Crew were offered the opportunity to review mineral make-up from Beeyoutiful Skin. I have never worn make-up much, but as I've gotten older I have noticed my skin isn't as clear as it once was and a little natural make-up might very well be in order. Since the Beeyoutiful Skin line is 100% minerals and all natural, I was happy to try it.
First, I was asked to select 3 colors of foundation from their website that I thought might match my skin tone. Let me just say, I'm not very good at that. Then I was sent tiny sample packets of those 3 colors to try on my skin to see what shade was the best match. After I decided on (what I thought was) the best color, I was also invited to choose two shades in the eye/lip color line which can be used interchangeably. I'm not into dramatic-looking make-up, so I tried to choose natural, subtle shades.
The products I received included: foundation, foundation brush, eye/lip color, multi-purpose brush,
a small sample of a second eye/lip Color, and
DVD. Everything was packaged beautifully in a pretty chiffon bag, with tulle netting wrapped around everything for padding.
After unpacking and examining everything, I watched the DVD to learn how to apply the make-up. Both the foundation and eye/lip color come in a loose powder form, so I assumed you would just brush loose powder on your face. Nope. Not at all. For a light application, you can spritz your brush with toner to dampen it a little before you use it to pick up the powder. I love the way that works. For a heavier coverage, you can mix the powder with a moisturizing lotion.
I had picked the foundation color I thought looked best, but as it turned out, it just wasn't a good color for me. Maybe it was the lighting in my bathroom or maybe I'm just not very good at choosing colors... but whatever the case, the foundation color was not right. For that reason, I didn't end up wearing the make-up more than a couple of times. However, it had a light, smooth feel to it, so I think I probably could get into the habit of wearing it, if I got the right color. The price for foundation ranges from $20 - $30.
The eye/lip colors I chose were pretty, but they were "frosted" which is a look I don't care for. I don't know if all the eye/lip colors in this line are frosted, or if I just happened to pick shades that are. After trying them on once, I didn't end up wearing them. I liked the application brush, though, and the method of mixing the powder with clear lip balm for the lip color. The multi-purpose brush (for eyes and lips) is $6.50.
My very favorite product in the whole set was the foundation brush. It is the softest makeup brush I have ever tried. It is very silky and I love the way it feels on my face. It is $11.
