Vintage Thingy Thursday

For this week's Vintage Thingy Thursday I thought I'd show you the clothesline I blatantly copied from Confessions of an Apron Queen. (Wanna see hers? Click here.)

Not everything on my clothesline is vintage... the first item is a pair of bloomers that went with a cute little outfit my daughter wore when she was little (mid-1990s)... next is the red ribbon I won for table-setting at the fair a couple of years ago (2006)... (See there! Blue just wouldn't have gone in my kitchen nearly as well!)... then a little smocky apron "Mother Shumaker" (my great-grandmother) made for me when I was a little girl (1970s)... the little yellow piece in the neck of the apron is a vintage square doily... then a white linen hanky with my initial on it (not vintage)... a red doily made by my mother-in-law (not vintage)... the black-and-white gingham child's apron was also made by Mother Shumaker (I think)... and the little wool scarf comes from a different great-grandmother... (I asked my mother what such a tiny scarf was used for and she thinks that Granny probably wrapped it around her baby's neck to keep it warm!)... the red P is my high school letter for academics (yes, our school actually gave letters for academics!) from 1981... and then a red-work "flour sack" tea towel that I just finished!

You can click on the picture to enlarge it to see the details, if you like.

And guess what? I found David's pajamas a couple of days ago!! Since I think my clothesline needs a little more color, I think I'm going to take down the bloomers and hang the teddy bear pajamas there. I'll show you the pajamas next week.

That looks awesome. The best part is that it is full of memories for you. It tickles me to know that I was your inspiration. Sincerely flattered! :D Love it.

Hi Karla! I love the clothes line
idea. Do you think it would work
for dinner napkins? Or are they too small? I have some very colorful ones I'd like to
display somehow. Have a great day!
